EXPANDING ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY: - Minority & Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) Programs

Minority and/or women-owned (MWBE) businesses serve a critical role in strengthening the U.S. economy and nurturing them should serve as a key component of any local effort to promote economic growth. At least 36% of all businesses in the U.S. are women-owned, employing 15% of the workforce.1 Minority-owned businesses employed nearly eight million people in 2015.

The mission of the Macon-Bibb Equity Hub is to empower the Macon-Bibb community by promoting equity and social justice. Through the dissemination of accurate and comprehensive data, the Equity Hub aims to provide individuals and organizations with the necessary tools to address systemic inequities in healthcare, education, housing, economic development, and resource access. By raising awareness and understanding of equity systems, the platform catalyzes change, inspiring action and advocacy. The mission extends beyond information sharing, as the Equity Hub strives to be an inclusive educational resource, fostering a deeper understanding of equity and race on local, state, national, and global levels. Ultimately, the mission is to create a community where everyone has equal opportunities and access to resources, contributing to a more just and equitable society in Macon-Bibb.
